Mausoleum at David's Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio

Client: David's Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio

Architect: Brightman & Mitchell Architects, Dayton, Ohio

One of the unique aspects of this mausoleum is how sections of the walls (both wood and stone) can be removed to insert caskets and cremains, yet normally those surfaces maintain their visual integrity. The challenges of this image were to merge an image of the casket, taken elsewhere in the building, with the wall in the center of the image, and to control the extreme range of light, from daylight to deep shadows, through the use of high-dynamic-range techniques, while creating an overall effect that is convincing and pleasing to the eye.
