At an elevation of 12,095 feet, Independence Pass, east of Aspen, Colorado, can offer up challenging weather at any time of the year. This image was made on September 21, when my home in Ohio was just cooling down from the summer.

This is another example of a low-contrast image, one of my favorite subjects. While it looks very soft due to the blowing snow, this panorama is composed of several images stitched together and has extremely fine resolution of tiny details, such as the trees on the left. This can only be appreciated in a print; the small reproductions on this website do not do it justice. I made Images #9277 and #9280 from the same general area some seventeen years earlier.
