In any successful design, function and aesthetics must complement each other. Here we see a police briefing room in action, along with a fairly austere -- but clean and simple -- design that functions particularly well. My goal with this image was to illustrate the extensive use of glass as an acoustic barrier while also providing visual openness. For example, during briefings, even when the doors are closed for acoustic privacy, officers can see who is in the hallway, as well as who is in the office on the far left, and vice versa. I also wanted to show how color is used effectively to add life and interest to the space, while also having a calming effect. |
