This facility has a certain unmistakable presence on the west side of downtown Dayton. It was designed to project a seriousness of purpose and security, while incorporating a degree of appeal to the more sensitive, affective side of human nature. The architect and I felt these qualities would be best captured in the warmth of late-evening light, when the interior became visible from the exterior, and from a distance that made the massing of forms and the various levels of detail visible and understandable. |
