My first impression of this space was that it would be impossible to capture the richness, subtlety and fine detail of the materials, colors and patterns used in this historic restoration. The parlor (to the left) was quite bright, illuminated by light coming in through windows; the foyer (where the camera is located), however, was quite dark. Yet, by using high-dynamic-range techniques and very long exposures (up to 30 seconds), I feel I was able to capture the essence of this wonderful space, even better than it appeared to the naked eye. Again, I should point out that I did not introduce any additional lighting sources; what you see is the existing light that was present on-site. |
