The two images below were combined to produce the photo illustration above, then grass and a new sky were added. Because this elevation faces generally north, it was always in shadow at this time of year. As a result, under bright sunlight, shadowed areas are extremely dense (dark), while highlights tend to burn out on the film. On the other hand, under overcast conditions, there is plenty of detail in all areas, but the structure appears flat. By digitally combining the two images, it was possible to achieve a balance between the two. The children were "ghosted" in to communicate the purpose of the building without making them the focal point. |
