This image illustrates an effective means of dealing with the extreme contrast often encountered when photographing interiors. The goal, of course, is to represent, as accurately as possible, the actual color balance and range of values perceived by the human eye, which can be dramatically different from what the camera captures. In this instance, some four different exposures were combined digitally to achieve that effect.
