This image is "something completely different" from my body of landscape photographs. I did not make this image out in the wilds of Zimbabwe or anything like that; I made it at home in our sunroom, using available light and a couple of white reflectors to open up the shadows. And this isn't an alpine wildflower or saguaro cactus; it's an orchid sent to my wife Joyce by her older son. So why do I include it in this collection? Because it's still part of nature. Yes, it's a cultivated flower, but, nevertheless, it's a natural, growing thing. And it was an expression of love, which, after all, is the single most important concept guiding human behavior. To acknowledge that, I decided to create an interesting composition out of it and post it in the "Details of Nature" section of this website. Who knows? You might see more images like this in the future.
