"Ohio Star Quadrupled" 2015
This is my first quilt that was accepted into a major show. It is an elaborate version of the "Ohio Star" block design. (In this case, it takes four Ohio Stars to make each block.) In the overall design of the quilt, I chose to alternate plain blocks with the Star blocks, to provide an opportunity for free-motion machine quilting, which was done by me. This is my first quilt to use so many feathers in the quilting. I learned how to design the feathers for the border, so that stencils aren't needed, from Sue Nickels and Pat Holly at their Holly Girls Quilt Retreat in Elk Rapids, Michigan in September 2014. This quilt was accepted into the 2016 Lancaster, PA, and Paducah, KY, AQS Quilt Shows. |
