This Rose of Sharon applique quilt includes blocks that were some of the winning designs from the online EQ6 Challenge in 2009. The challenge was to design a Rose of Sharon block using only three given shapes (blossom, circle and leaf) in limited sizes. I used my favorite applique process, which I do entirely by machine, using fusible web, with a blanket stitch around each applique piece. The fabrics are batiks, with some hand-dyed fabrics from Cherrywood. The quilting was done by Carolyn Archer of Lebanon, Ohio.

This is the only quilt I've made that I've enjoyed so much that I have now started making a second one similar to it, which I will quilt myself. Usually, given the large amount of time and effort put into a quilt, by the time I finish a quilt I'm ready to move on to a totally different design.
